DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE “MAMA’S NEXT BIG ACT!”?? Legendary Theatre District nightspot Don’t Tell Mama is announcing the fifth annual “Mama’s Next BIG Act!” a bigger than average, 8 week competition that mixes styles and genres. Beginning Tuesday July 2 at 7:30 and running for 8 weeks on Tuesdays through August 27. (No contest on July 9) Voted by the audience and a cavalcade of celebrity judges, the contest is open to solo, duo and group vocal acts in the following categories: music, drag, burlesque, and variety. The winner receives a $1500.00 stipend to put towards a NEW show at Don't Tell Mama to be presented in early 2020 AND an ELECTRIC WOK!! Plus other surprises!!! **Mama's Next BIG Act will take place on Tuesdays between July 2 and August 27 (No contest on July 9) The preliminary rounds will be July 2 and July 16 at 7:30.

National LGBT Cancer Project

A special event in support of the National LGBT Cancer Project. In addition to performances by established cabaret performers KT Sullivan, Jeff Harnar, Billy Stritch, Marieann Meringolo, Eugene Ebner and Doris Dear, the evening will also feature a short performance from the play, introduced by playwright Fuchs.

The ninth year of this award-winning music festival, featuring over 100 artists in 22 shows, is dedicated to the late jazz and cabaret musician, musical director, and composer Barry Levitt. All proceeds will go to art, theater and education through Urban Stages’ Outreach.

Join Robin’s Nest creator, producer and host, Robin Westle, when Robin’s Nest, the acclaimed benefit series, returns to the Laurie Beechman Theatre on November 5th at 8pm. This twelfth edition of Robin’s Nest will celebrate family and differences and will feature DORIS DEAR (BOARDWALK EMPIRE, THE NORMAL HEART, 2016 MAC award winner) STEPHANE DURET (BROADWAY’S KINKY BOOTS) ROBIN KRADLES and REVEREND YOLANDA (GLBT Hall of Fame, REVEREND YOLANDA’S OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR, two- time MAC award winner). This edition of Robin’s Nest will be hosted by TAFFY LONGVUE.

Robin’s Nest is directed by ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT, with musical direction by MIKE PETTRY and OWEN YOST on bass.
